By Pius Daniel have you seen the way God makes a sickler? he weaves their soul, a loop at a time, passing each line into every hole, but he forgets to pull at the end, so each done-soul doesn't get taut. now we watch them loose with every visit to the hospital till they become totally un done. This poem is based on sickle cell anaemia, and beautifully enough, the poet composed it in the c form, the way the sickler's cells are.

First thing about this poem is the crescent shape, depicting the red blood cell of a sickle cell anaemia patient. And as I kept on reading, it created the imagery of something being formed by strands and loose ends being abandoned. I love how precise the poem was, and beautiful.

This is an honest poem and it tells the struggles of a sickler. Having lost people to the Sickle cell disease, this poem makes me a bit emotional. And it made me a smile too.

A profound poem keeps you spell bound for a while, tugging at your imagination. This is exactly what the poet's work did to me. The crescent shaped pattern he used drew me into reading the poem and the message left me poetically nourished.
