The Ritual
It starts with an orchestra
The winds would play a beautiful symphony on their flutes,
The melody would resound with force in the hearts of men.
And the trees shall begin dancing to their tunes.
Just then,
The alarm shall sound across the heavens,
And with speed, each one shall run
Till they hit the finish line with a thudding sound.

The Clouds are pregnant,
And this ritual must be performed if the earth is to be blessed with a new scent.

Olafisoye's The Ritual, the rain is depicted, metaphorically, as a cleansing ritual for the purification of the Earth, and "if the Earth is to be blessed with a new scent". It shares wonderful imageries with the reader which serves as the building point for its clearness. one has no reason to struggle with understanding, for whatever is used in this poem is accessible by the reader. it's a terrific read.

however, the line: " the alarm (which is thunder) will sound across the heaven, " read so well to me, not "shall".

a fine, clever piece of poetry.

"...And this ritual must be performed if the earth is to be blessed with a new scent." This part just reminded me of the soothing scent that comes with rainfall and the mixture of water and soil. Petrichor; soothing, pure, earthy.

A beautiful piece — lovely use of metaphors.
I will simply say: absolutely poetic.
You got me thinking and imagining.
I love it!

I concur with the previous comments that this piece is no doubt a beautiful poem. The use of poetic devices in the poem is exceptional. I didn't imagine the event that announces the start of the ritual (the rain) and the effect of rainfall (the soothing, pure scent it leaves on planet earth) could be painted with such vivid, well-articulated imagery until I start imagining while perusing the poem.

In the aspects of grammar, structure, clarity, and logical flow, the poem does excellently well. The poem certifies the author as a clear-headed writer, who is undeniably good at what he does.
