Maybe how you jolt my heart with a single touch
Maybe how my heart cease when your hand goes off

Maybe how you ease my demons with your stare
Maybe how they grieve when your eyes goes off

Maybe how you lift my burden with your presence
Maybe how I can't lift the dead weight when you take off

Maybe I'm under the influence of marijuana
Maybe, these are my compulsive emotions for you

Lanko, Joeseph Jiya is a Nigerian writer and this poem is a submission received from the July 2017 SLM 1 year anniversary poetry contest.

I like the second stanza. He and his demons are both recipient of the feels.
The last stanza is lit too, the analogy between marijuana and compulsive emotions just made other stanzas resonate deeper.
But I think the first three stanzas would be better without the 'Maybe' word or not.

First line, Fourth paragraph, is about the only maybe I can attest to. The rest are via influence by the attestation of that line. Maybe not.

It's a beautiful piece. It resonates with the uncertainity that comes with love. The last stanza sums it up correctly

Just maybe we will find someone who has this effect on us or maybe not

I understood the general theme of the poem-feelings that can't be controlled. But I feel the rhythm is off, with just the last line from the last stanza holding the whole piece together.
