PAMPHLET97

Who are we?

pamphlet97 is a bi-annual magazine published by SprinNG. Dedicated to featuring experimental literary works of the highest quality, we are seeking fiction, poetry and fiction from established writers as well as "undiscovered" talent. We get our name from the definition of the word pamphlet as a "small, unbound booklet". We believe the biggest revolutions - literary or political - are inspired by moments of small, free ratiocination. A man whose essence perfectly captured that spirit was Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Kuti, who died in the year '97. His legacy is an inspiration  for the work that we do.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

If it's not experimental, we do not want it. We only want works that do something with form, with language; works that re-interpret tired tropes in refreshing ways. We don't expect you to invent new genres of literature, of course. That would be too much to ask...though...we would not mind that. At all. We just want to see efforts of "trying new things". Conventional literature bores us. We probably would not love that cute rhyming sonnet you wrote last night, or the Hemingway rip-off of a short story you swear are the best thing you've ever written. They are probably great, but don't hold your breath that we will publish them.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • Please, submit no more than 3 poems, one essay or one short story.
  • Do not submit in more than one genre during a single submission period.
  • Do not submit work that has been previously rejected by us. If we say 'no' once, we probably won't change our minds.
  • Only submit unpublished work. We accept solicited submissions, but in the case you want to withdraw your submission, please inform us immediately, under the thread of the original e-mail.
  • Submit work as a Word document, in either Times New Roman  or Garamond, Font 12.
  • The subject of the e-mail should be the title of your work, followed by your name, eg: On the Road - Jack Kerouac.
  • In the body of the email, paste your bio (under 100 words) and include any additional information we should be aware of.
  • Submit your work to...

SUBMISSION PERIODS

As we only publish work twice a year, we have two open submission windows:
February 1 - April 15
July 1 - September 15

PAYMENT

We are new and we are broke. Unfortunately, we cannot pay writers for their work at this moment, except for during special submission calls. Once we are able to secure funding, however, everyone will be compensated duly.
