Undoubtedly, 2022 has been an eventful and fantastic year for us at SprinNG. In August, we had a transition of leadership and announced the first Director of SprinNG. Not only are we grateful for another successful year of demonstrating our commitment to promoting and revitalizing literature in Nigeria and Ghana through the projects and opportunities we create, we immensely appreciate our community of mentors, fellows, supporters, readers, and collaborators for helping us record another successful year. Like this year and the years before, we remain dedicated to seeking and creating new ways and opportunities to serve the creative growth of young writers in Nigeria and beyond with your unwavering support in 2023. Hence, we are open to donations and collaborative opportunities to help increase the impact of our service and goals. Please visit www.sprinng.org/donate if you are interested in supporting our work financially, either on a one-time or monthly basis. We also recorded a significant increase in our social media following and engagement on @SprinNGlm and @the_SWAPng. In furtherance of our goal to shine a light on young writers and celebrate their work on our platform, we are accepting submissions for the 2023 Publication Year. Anthology: This year, we published the annual SprinNG Writing Fellowship Anthology: Everything Tender and Beautiful, which consists of poems, short stories, and Why I Write essays by 25 of the 41 writers who successfully completed the requirements for the 2022 SprinNG Writing Fellowship. The anthology is a compelling mix of uniqueness, humour, and relatability. To read more about this anthology and download it, visit www.sprinng.org/etb-anthology. The SprinNG Fellowship The SprinNG Writing Fellowship: This year, we recorded a monumental increase in the number of applications received for the SprinNG Writing Fellowship--an intensive 6-week online mentorship programme for young writers with great potential and willingness to learn and develop their craft. Select participants of the fellowship are paired with top contemporary Nigerian and Ghanaian writers to receive guidance and feedback continually on their work. Here is the engagement history in our SprinNG Writing fellowship:
In 2022, we received 801 applications for the SprinNG Writing Fellowship. Consequently, we accepted 44 mentees into the programme; 41 completed the fellowship requirements and received their certifications. Additionally, 40 mentors volunteered for the fellowship. The application for the SprinNG Writing Fellowship will open again in 2023 between January and April 15. We encourage potential applicants to visit www.sprinng.org/writing-fellowship for further announcements about this. The SprinNG Advancement Fellowship: Good News! You no longer have to wait for specific periods in the year to take the SprinNG Advancement Fellowship courses! The SprinNG Advancement Fellowship (SAF) is a self-paced (4 weeks) programme that helps individuals develop career content and improve their professional communication skills to attain academic and career goals. The fellowship covers six courses: Resume/ CV Writing, Cover Letter Writing, Personal Statement Writing, Interview Preparation, Answering Interview Questions, and S.M.A.R.T Goal-Setting, and it costs only N30,000. Fellowship participants are provided concise learning materials, including videos, worksheets, short guides, and assignments to build their career portfolios for pursuing opportunities like jobs, internships, fellowships, university admissions, and more. In addition, they will receive feedback and guidance from SprinNG to perfect their career content and stand out. Visit www.sprinng.org/advancement-fellowship to sign up and pay! The SprinNG Women Authors Prize (SWAP): The SprinNG Women Authors Prize (SWAP) focuses on the celebration and promotion of literary works by female Nigerian authors. This year, due to a generous donation received from a sponsor, we announced an increase in the SprinNG Women Author's Prize from a N200,000 prize for one to a N600,000 prize for two. Hence, every year, SWAP selects two Female Nigerian Authors--writers who have published a full-length book in print and invests N600,000 in purchasing, distributing, and marketing copies of their book nationwide through our sister literary websites and events with whom we collaborate. On 17th December, after receiving our judges decisions, we announced Bina Idonije, Author of Bridges are for Burning, and Muti'ah Badruddeen, Author of Rekiya and Z, as the winners of the 2022 SprinNG Women Authors Prize. Applications will open again for the fourth edition of the SprinNG Women Authors Prize on July 1 and will close on September 30, 2023. Visit www.sprinng.org/swap to learn more about the prize and see its timeline. The SprinNG Poetry Contest: This year, we received 1575 submissions for the poetry contest.
